The LDB box (Active Direct Injection) is intended for use as the means to connect a musical instrument, which has a high impedance unbalanced output to a low impedance balanced input of a mixer. The balanced XLR connection between the LDB direct box and the mixer will maintain a low signal to noise ratio while being able to use significantly longer cables than normally possible if connecting the high impedance unbalanced output of the instrument directly to the mixer.
In the case of ground loops causing system hum, the ground connection between the mixer and the instrument can be separated by means of engaging the LDB’s ground lift switch. Also with the ground lifted the devices are DC separated. High input signals can also be reduced by means of the -30db attenuator switch which then allows direct input to a mixer. This allows the LDB box to be connected directly to the speaker output of an instrument amplifier maintaining the tone introduced by the amp. It is not recommended to connect instrument amplifiers greater than 200W to the inputs. A parallel link output is provided on each LDB input for connection to the instrument amplifier etc
The LDB will run on either a single 9-volt battery or 48-volt phantom power.
